About MediStim XP

MediStim XP is a versatile NMES muscle rehabilitation system designed to support muscle strengthening, re-education and recovery in both home and clinical settings.

Using Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), MediStim XP delivers electrical stimulation through adhesive electrodes positioned on the skin, triggering controlled muscle contractions to help re-educate and strengthen weakened, atrophied or immobilised muscles.

MediStim XP can support a wide range of rehabilitation needs, including maintaining or improving joint range of motion, relaxation of muscle spasm, neurological muscle re-education and the prevention or retardation of disuse muscle atrophy. The system is easy to operate, with pre-set programmes designed to make regular treatment straightforward both in the clinic and at home.

Unlike a conventional muscle stimulator focused solely on NMES, MediStim XP also incorporates TENS pain management, providing muscle rehabilitation and drug-free pain management within one compact, portable device.

From Kneehab XP to MediStim XP

MediStim XP builds on Neurotech’s established experience in electrical muscle stimulation while providing a considerably more flexible approach to rehabilitation than the retired Kneehab XP.

Kneehab XP was specifically developed for quadriceps rehabilitation and used a dedicated conductive garment incorporating Neurotech’s Multipath stimulation technology. MediStim XP instead uses individually positioned adhesive electrodes, allowing stimulation to be adapted to different muscles, muscle groups and rehabilitation requirements.

For patients and healthcare professionals familiar with Kneehab XP, MediStim XP retains the three NMES programme formats used by Kneehab XP while providing additional NMES programmes and TENS pain management. This provides the familiar principles of electrical muscle rehabilitation within a much more versatile system capable of supporting rehabilitation beyond the quadriceps.

Rather than being restricted to one dedicated garment and one area of the body, MediStim XP can be used with a range of electrode sizes and configurations selected according to the area being treated. This makes it particularly useful where rehabilitation needs change or where stimulation is required for different muscle groups.

For former Kneehab users, MediStim XP therefore provides a natural progression: the familiar benefits of structured NMES muscle rehabilitation, with greater flexibility, more treatment options and a much broader range of potential applications.

Every rehabilitation journey is different. MediStim XP’s flexible electrode system allows electrodes to be selected and positioned according to the muscle or muscle group requiring stimulation, rather than relying on a single fixed garment.
